Design Dialogue „The House of Health Promotion“

September 25, 2019 | TUM Department of Architecture

In an interdisciplinary design workshop, researchers, practitioners and students will rethink the future of hospitals, from a psychological, medical, legal and spatial perspective. In this one-day design dialogue – a participatory creative format from Sweden – 6 mixed teams will develop new concepts and mental models of future hospitals using design tools from architecture as sketching, modelling, and play. The developed concepts will be taken further in a short design exercise by the participating students, mentored by Marie Strid from Chalmers University of Technology and visiting professor Dr. Tanja Vollmer from TUM Department of Architecture.

We are looking for applications from Master’s degree students in architecture and industrial design, interested in the future of healthcare and in contributing design ideas for future hospitals. The successful participation on the workshop day and report with short design proposal, which shall be handed in 6 weeks after the dialogue, will be granted with 3 ECTS.

Applications with a short motivation letter are to be sent to info@bauhow5.eu
Deadline: 08.09.2019

Co-operating partners will be medical professionals, representatives from the municipality of Munich and researchers from UCL, TU Delft and ETH.

The workshop is part of the 3-year Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership “Strengthening Architecture and the Built Environment Research” (SABRE), conducted by five leading European universities in architecture and the built environment (BauHow5) and co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.
