SABRE Multiplier Event: Doctoral Education in Architecture

Creating a European core curriculum for PhD education in Architecture and the Built Environment.

The aim of this output was to develop a core curriculum for doctoral education in Architecture and the Built Environment by means of sharing existing courses among the partner universities, by using high quality courses from other European universities, and if necessary by adding new courses. This core curriculum however is not intended to become compulsory: instead it should be understood as complementary to what happens already. PhD students and schools/faculties can use just the particular elements they need, or they can use the whole package. To facilitate participation throughout Europe, the content of the courses was reworked into new and open formats.

The multiplier event consists of 3 different doctoral events, which were open for application across and beyond Europe:

October 05 – 09, 2020
• Two-day Academic Writing Retreat (October 05 – 06, 2020)
• Three-day Course „Criticality in Research“ (October 05 – 07, 2020)
• PhD Workshop „Approaching Research Practice in Architecture“ (October 08 – 09, 2020)
