Research Perspectives in Architecture

July 4-5, 2019 | Vorhoelzer Forum
TUM Department of Architecture

The conference «Research Perspectives in Architecture»  at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) aims to present and discuss a spectrum of research questions and methodological approaches in architecture. Podium discussions focussing on various topics will highlight different perspectives of research in architecture.

The lead question of the conference is: Which methodological approaches are used in research on architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design, and which genuine architectural methods can be transferred to scientific practice?

The first day of the conference will focus on different methodologies and research approaches; it will aim to display the diversity of methods in architecture. The methodological spectrum will be presented in brief lectures on methods of current research and doctoral projects. The second day broadens the methodological discourse and provides an exemplary insight into methodologically independent research programs in architecture. Doctoral students are given the opportunity to present their research work to the critique of scientists with different methodological emphases.
